On April 26, 2018, the Department of Innovation, Sciences and Economic Development of Canada (ISED), issued the Notice No. SMSE-006-18 of Radio Standards Specifications (RSS-Gen) that regulates the general requirements for compliance of radio apparatus. The main goal of this standard is to have an efficient spectrum management to comply with the ISED requirements.
Among the main changes introduced, there are updates in the provision for requesting a special authorization, labelling specifications from RSP-100, requirements for test frequencies versus operating frequency bands, requirements for the power supply voltage to be used when measuring transmitter frequency stability, and it also adds the frequency bands 0.495-0.505 MHz, 8.41425-8.41475 MHz, 149.9-150.05 MHz, 162.0125-167.17 MHz, 167.72-173.2 MHz and 2483.5-2500 MHz to the Table of Restricted Frequency Bands.
The authority will be open to receive comments or inquiries until July 4 of 2018 in the following link: http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/ceb-bhst.nsf/frm-eng/EABV-9VCLQJ, and by email. The document will enter into force six months after being published on the ISED’s website.
