This past August 19th, The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has announced in their official website that, from December 31st 2025, there won’t be any 3G networks in Qatar and the bands used for this technology will no longer be allowed for these devices.
Additionally to this, immediately after this publication, CRA informed that the imports of mobile phones and devices which operate only using second and third-generation technologies, shall be banned and prohibited to enter Qatar.
Their main objective is to develop 4G and 5G networks, and with that to contribute to provide the population with higher data speeds, lower response times, and greater capacity to meet the growing demand for mobile data services.
Also another objective is to support the Qatar Third National Development Strategy 2024 -2030, which prioritizes improving residents’ quality of life and delivering services that meet global standards.
